Girl's life was saved by mobile phone Shot at after being gang-raped
A minor girl was gang-raped and shot at in Maharashtra's Pune city. The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the case and a hunt is underway to nab three others.

According to the police, the girl is a resident of Pune's Sahkar Nagar area.

Accompanied by a friend, the minor girl went for a birthday party at Pune's Warje Malwadi area on the day of the incident.

In her statement, the girl said she was asked to stay back after the birthday celebrations. This is when three men took her to a room where she was sexually assaulted. The girl later managed to escape the room.

However, one of the accused threatened to shoot her and told her not to leave because "two other people were also on their way".

The girl did not respond to the threat and said she wanted to return home. Police officers familiar with the case said this infuriated one of the accused who fired at her with a pistol.

Fortunately, the girl was holding her mobile phone close to her chest and the bullet could not inflict fatal damage.

The accused then dropped off the girl and her friend at a local hospital. This is where the girl was treated for minor injuries before she returned home.

Pune Police has arrested two accused in connection with the case. They have been remanded to police custody for three days. A search has also been launched to nab three other suspects.
