Portland Police detectives arrested 29-year-old Jon Barry Ruby today for the burglary and sexual assault yesterday morning in Southeast Portland. Ruby is a transient but frequents the area of Southeast 43rd Avenue and Roswell Street in Milwaukie, which is where he was located this morning and arrested by officers from Portland and Milwaukie Police.

Evidence left at the scene by Ruby led detectives to his identity and arrest.

Ruby has been charged with Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree and Burglary in the First Degree and will be booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

Officers learned that the assault took place at a residence in the area of Southeast 18th Avenue and Rex Street at approximately 6:30 a.m. Police checked the neighborhood for a suspect but did not locate anyone matching the description. Detectives from the Sexual Assault Detail and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division responded to the scene.

The suspect is described as a white male, 6'01", slender build, long dark hair to the middle of his back, wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt.
