Portland Police Detectives have identified the victim in yesterday's shooting at Northeast 11th Avenue and Northeast Multnomah as 14-year-old Shiloh Hampton. He was shot after leaving the mall with a group of friends.

Friends describe Shiloh Hampton as a well-liked Madison High School freshman who starred on the junior varsity football team.

Investigators learned that Shiloh was at the Lloyd Center Mall earlier in the day with a group of friends. The group made their way to the southeast corner of Northeast 11th Avenue and Northeast Multnomah at about 5:00 p.m. last evening when someone fired numerous rounds at the entire group. Shiloh was struck by the gun fire while the rest of the group fled from the area. Shiloh remains in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

Police spoke to several witnesses in the area, however, none of the persons with Shiloh remained to talk with police. Investigators consider the persons with Shiloh potential victims and are asking that these persons contact police regarding this shooting investigation.

Investigators believe this shooting involved persons associated with gangs, however, have not been able to determine Shiloh's involvement with gangs or if he was the intended shooting victim.
