GOVERNMENT CAMP, Oregon -- 27-year-old snowboarder Brantley Acree who had been lost on Mount Hood since Sunday was rescued today.

Acree, born in Virginia, was found on Mt. Hood's west side by a helicopter team from the Oregon Army National Guard. He was airlifted to safety at 11 a.m. this morning

Sheriff's office spokesman Jim Strovink, said Acree used his cell phone to call a friend for help and that friend called 911 mid afternoon on Sunday

The rescue team worried that Acree' cell phone battery was too weak but soon Acree called with details of his location. He said he had fallen asleep in the middle of the night.

Acree is safe and now feeling much better.
