PORTLAND -- A woman and man have been accused of theft from Safeway stores of at least $5 million. Police say the theft spans several years in Clackamas and Multnomah counties.

In October Fairview police detained the couple with a large amount of items they believed to have been stolen from five separate Safeway stores. Police arrested Angela Rose Evans, 32, and Richard Lavern Remington, 52. They were both arraigned in Circuit Court yesterday.

Safeway began tracking the couple late last year after suspecting they had been shoplifting.
