This morning, Tuesday February 8, 2011, at approximately 7:50 a.m., Portland Police officers responded to the intersection of North Lombard Street and North Richmond Avenue on the report of a child struck by a car. Officers and medical personnel arrived and learned that the 10-year-old male was struck by a car as he ran across the street. Medical personnel transported the child to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The child is a student at nearby James John Elementary School.

Traffic officers conducted an investigation into the accident and learned the person driving the car, 32-year-old Angelica Mofford, was driving westbound on North Lombard Street and had a green light when the child ran northbound across North Lombard, against the "Don't Walk" sign.

The child was struck by the vehicle and dragged under the car briefly, causing injuries. The driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.

The driver was not impaired and was not issued a citation.
