PORTLAND, Oregon - A fire at Southeast 174th Avenue was started by a 6-year-old playing with a lighter. The fire begain in a closet inside the family's unit around 8 p.m. last Saturday night .The fire was extingquist quickly but damage is estimated at about $800,000.

A mother and three children from one unit and a mother and a teenager from another are getting shelter from the Red Cross.

A second fire broke out later in Fairview that displaced one person and the cause is under investigation.
