PORTLAND, Oregon - A man is recovering from a stab wound after a fight in Old Town, and the other involved person was detained for investigation.

On Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:01p.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a disturbance at Northwest 3rd Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street. Officers located an adult male patient bleeding from a serious wound to his leg. Officers applied a tourniquet to stem the bleeding and requested Portland Fire and Rescue and American Medical Response Paramedics to respond. The patient was transported to a hospital and treated. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Officers began an investigation and gathered information about a suspect. About 20 minutes after the call was dispatched, they located the suspect at Northwest 5th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street. The adult male suspect was detained and interviewed by detectives. Preliminary investigation is that the man acted in self-defense. He has been released without charges pending further investigation. A involved knife has been seized as evidence.
