On 07/16/21 just after 7:00am the Lane County Sheriff's Office received the report that a 2013 Toyota Highlander had been stolen from a citizen. Some credit cards had been left in the vehicle when it was taken. The credit cards were used to make fraudulent purchases at area businesses throughout the morning.

At approximately 11:15am a Lane County Sheriff's Deputy spotted the stolen vehicle in the area of W. 11th Ave. and Beltline Rd. The deputy attempted to stop the driver. However the driver fled at a high rate of speed. Deputies lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Clear Lake Rd. and Alvadore Rd.

A short time later the involved vehicle was found unoccupied near a residence on Hwy. 36. Utilizing tips provided by the public, deputies were able to track down the suspects and contact them in Junction City in the parking lot of an area business. The suspects, 33 year old Cody Shane Parker and 37 year old Rebecca Sue Weston, were taken into custody without incident.

Parker faces charges of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, ID Theft, Reckless Driving, Hit & Run, Reckless Endangering x2, Attempt to Elude by Vehicle and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Weston faces charges of ID Theft and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card. She also had an unrelated arrest warrant out of the Linn County Circuit Court.

The Lane County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the Oregon State Police, Springfield Police Department and Eugene Police Department for their assistance in the investigation.
