FOREST GROVE, Oregon - It is with sad news that we report the recovery of Toufik "Tom" Tanous' body this late afternoon. Mr. Tonous has been missing since April 27th.

The body was recovered by searchers in Gales Creek near the Hwy 47 overpass just outside the Forest Grove City limits.

Tanous left the Hawthorne House Care Facility, located at 2635 21st Ave., in Forest Grove between 8 and 8:30 p.m. He was reportedly spotted walking south away from the area of Hawthorne St. and 19th Ave.

Tanous wa 5-foot-10, 125 pounds, had white hair and brown eyes, and went by "Tom."

Thanks goes to the Washington County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue and to the Search and Rescue Teams from Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Tillamook County Sheriff's Office, Hood River County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue and Mountain Wave Emergency Communication.

Additionally, the Forest Grove Police Department would also like to thank all of the community members and businesses for their donations during these past three days.

We hope old "Tom" will rest in peace.
