PORTLAND TENNESSE: (Smokey Barn News) – Smokey Barn News has confirmed that a man was struck by a train and injured in Portland TN Friday evening.

According to the Portland Fire Department, the accident occurred just before 6 pm. CSX notified dispatch about the accident involving an impact with a pedestrian at 5:44 pm Friday evening.

The male was located in the area behind TCAT / Portland East Middle School. He was transported by Lifeflight to an area hospital. (LOCATION OF ACCIDENT)

Smokey's news partner WKRN News 2 reports that the man (estimated to be in his late 30s) was seriously injured after he was reportedly sitting on the tracks, although Smokey Barn News has not been able to independently confirm the latter fact.
