PORTLAND, Ore. — March marks one year since students in Oregon left the classroom for distance learning as the coronavirus was declared a global pandemic.

Last week, Governor Kate Brown issued an executive order to bring the state's students back to public school campuses in a matter of weeks.

On Sunday's segment of Your Voice Your Vote, Brown is joined by House Speaker Tina Kotek to talk about the impacts that distance learning has had on kids this past year.

The two state leaders also talk about the return of students, as well as the Summer Learning and Child Care package, a $250 million plan that will create grants for enrichment activities, academic support, child care, and early learning programs.

"It's so important that this summer has more resources for all ages," said Kotek.
