Man arrested following shots fired call at MAX Train station

PORTLAND, Oregon - On February 25, 2021, at about 4:25 p.m., Transit Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the Washington Park MAX Station. MAX trains were held at platforms as police responded.
When officers arrived, they located evidence of gunfire, but no apparent victim. As they searched the area, they located the suspect, Russell Andrew Martinez, 41. Martinez was taken into custody. Officers recovered a firearm.
Martinez is being charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, disorderly conduct in the second degree and interfering with public transportation.
TriMet MAX train service has been restored, and police have cleared the area.
The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released at this time.
