Woman Shot in Foot in Portsmouth Neighborhood
Story by Sandra Blodget - The Oregon Herald
On Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 4:42a.m., police responded to a report that someone was shooting in the 9300 block of North Wall Avenue. Police discovered that a 65-year-old woman had a gunshot wound in the foot. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Apparently two male residents of the home saw two suspects attempting to steal their car outside. They went outside to confront the suspects and one of the suspects fired a gun at the residents. They were not hit, but one of the bullets penetrated the home and struck the victim inside.
No suspect information is being released at this time. The investigation is continuing. If anyone has information about this shooting, please e-mail [email protected] and reference case number 21-8543.
The Police Bureau continues to work with partners to reduce the number of shootings. Solving crimes related to shootings takes help from the community, including witnesses and bystanders to come forward and provide information to police. This can be very difficult for people to do, but is often necessary to start the process of holding shooters accountable, and interrupt the cycle of violence in our neighborhood streets.
