SALEM, Oregon - In following up to a fatal crash that occurred on August 7, 2020, Tristan Isaac Goodwin, age 19 of Newberg, has been arraigned at the Marion County Circuit Court Annex for manslaughter in the second degree, assault in the third degree and reckless driving. Goodwin turned himself in to Salem Police Traffic Team officers on Thursday.

On August 7 at approximately 10:00 p.m., Goodwin was driving his Subaru Impreza westbound on Mildred LN SE at a high rate of speed and failed to stop for the stop sign at Liberty RD S. His vehicle struck a southbound Saturn Ion being driven by Justin Swinkels, age 41 of Salem.

The crash killed Goodwin's passenger, Sara Elizabeth Schumann, age 17 of Salem. Swinkels and his passenger Christopher Denny, age 28 of Salem, were both critically injured but survived after treatment at local hospitals.

Since Goodwin has been arraigned all information requests should be sent to the Marion County District Attorney's office.
