Kelso Fire at an abandoned structure used by transients

West Kelso- Around 9pm last night fire fighters were sent to a fire at 304 Catlin ST to find smoke coming from a boarded residential structure. Witnesses reported to firefighters that the structure had been used extensively by transients and that persons were seen entering the structure all day. With this information firefighters immediately performed a search of the buildings, looking for victims. No victims were located during the search but burning garbage was located in a rear room. Firefighters extinguished the fire and ventilated the remaining smoke from the structure.

After extinguishing the fire, crews located several openings in the walls that had been used for persons to enter the structures.

The structure and several others on Catlin ST have been condemned and are scheduled for demolition in the near future.

Investigators believe the fire is Suspicious but no witnesses or evidence had any specific information.

A Ladder Truck, 3-Fire engines, 1-ambulance and 2-Chief Officer with 17 personnel responded.
