Oregon Gov. Brown rescinds executive order on policing Portland's post-election protests

PORTLAND, Ore. – Governor Kate Brown is rescinding her executive order that tasked the Oregon State Police and Multnomah County Sheriff's Office with helping Portland Police handle protests in the city.

Gov. Brown announced she was standing down the joint incident command on Sunday following "a day of largely peaceful demonstrations and celebrations" in Portland.

The order was issued ahead of Election Day to help keep the peace. She also authorized the Oregon National Guard to step in, if needed.
