Coronavirus death toll exceeds 50 in Oregon, cases surpass 1,400

PORTLAND, Ore. — Three more people died of the coronavirus in Oregon Friday, and 76 new cases were confirmed in the state, according to the latest information from Oregon Health Authority and Oregon Office of Emergency Management.

As of Saturday morning, Oregon has 1,447 positive cases of the coronavirus. So far, 51 patients have died from the virus in the state.

The recent data show that 28638 people in Oregon have been tested for the virus and that 27191 of those people tested negative.

Of the confirmed cases, only 24% of COVID-19-positive patients have been hospitalized.

Only 14% of confirmed cases were found in health care workers. According to the data, 54% of cases are not health care workers.

The information release from the State of Oregon shows that the state has 768 ventilators available.

Oregon received a shipment of 10,000 face shields in the past 24 hours, but has not received any personal protective equipment besides that.
