The Oregon health Authority also reported another death from COVID-19. So far, 12 people have died statewide from the virus.
Oregon's 12th COVID-19 death is an 82-year-old woman in Marion County. She tested positive on March 20, and died March 25 at Salem Hospital. She had underlying medical conditions. Health officials say that the dramatic rise in positive cases over the past few days is coming from increased testing across the state.
"We need to pay attention to the numbers that mean the most, in terms of health care capacity – which are the hospitalizations, the critically ill, and – of course – the deaths," said Dawn Mautner, senior health adviser for the OHA.
Clark County is also seeing a dramatic rise in the number of coronavirus cases as testing becomes more available across the region.
