On Thursday, January 2, 2020, at about 2:58 p.m., the Albany Police Department and Albany Fire Department responded to the intersection of Santiam Highway and Goldfish Farm Road on the report of a motor vehicle crash involving a semi-truck. Officers arrived at the scene and found three vehicles were involved in the crash; two passenger cars and a semi-truck pulling an empty livestock trailer. A driver from one of the passenger vehicles was transported to Salem Hospital where they have been listed in critical condition. There were no other injuries that required medical attention or transport.

The Linn County Multi-Agency Investigation Team (MAIT), comprised of officers from the Albany and Lebanon Police Departments, Linn County Sheriff's Office and the Oregon State Police, conducted the on-scene investigation. The Benton County Sheriff's Office also assisted in this investigation. ODOT provided traffic control while the investigation was being completed. East and westbound lanes of Highway 20 were closed from Goldfish Farm Road to Scravel Hill Road for approximately five hours.
