PORTLAND, Oregon - Detectives with the PPB Domestic Violence Reduction Unit identified and arrested the suspect involved in today's early morning shooting. The suspect has been identified as 44 year-old Khia Edwards, who has a relationship with the victim covered under the domestic violence statute.

Edwards was booked into the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Assault I (Domestic Violence), Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Domestic Violence), and Tampering with Evidence (Domestic Violence). Domestic violence is among the most frequent and serious forms of violent crime investigated by police. The Portland Police Bureau's Domestic Violence Reduction Unit is a unique collaboration between the Portland Police Bureau, the Multnomah County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council, Volunteers of America, Raphael House, El Programa Hispano and victim advocates.
