$100,000 Scratch-it win will help developmentally disabled

Zurfluh, a mother of four who also operates a home for developmentally disabled adults, said she occasionally plays Oregon Lottery Scratch-its to unwind, and wasn't expecting the win. "I played and thought I won, then I checked it and my boyfriend checked it and that's when it sunk in that we won," she said. "We are going to put the money toward a new foster home in McMinnville. This will be a good start."
Zurfluh took home more than $68,000 after taxes and said she will continue to play Oregon Lottery Scratch-its occasionally.
She purchased her winning ticket at the Paradise Circle K, located at 160 SW Hill Road in McMinnville. "Sunny" Signh, owner of the store said he was taken aback when he realized his store sold the $100,000 ticket – the largest prize that he has had at that location.
"It's great to hear when one of our customers wins on a Lottery ticket we sold them," Signh said. "Word has gotten around and we are having an uptick in business because people think we have a lucky store." During the 2015-17 biennium, more than $14 million in Oregon Lottery proceeds were directed to economic development, parks, education and watershed enhancement in Yamhill County, where Zurfluh lives and purchased the ticket. Since 1985, Oregon Lottery players have won more than $38 billion in prizes. The Oregon Lottery reminds players to always sign the back of their Lottery tickets, regardless of the game. In the event of winning a jackpot, they should consult with a trusted financial planner or similar professional to develop a plan for their winnings. Prize winners of more than $50,000 are advised to contact the Lottery office and schedule an appointment to claim their prize.
Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned nearly $12 billion for economic development, public education, state parks, Veterans services and watershed enhancements. For more information on the Oregon Lottery visit www.oregonlottery.org
