At approximately 12:30pm this afternoon, Benton County Sheriff's Office, Monroe Fire and Corvallis Fire responded to the Hells Canyon area for a report of a road construction equipment accident. Upon arrival it was determined the equipment had been operated by a long time Benton County Public Works employee. The piece of equipment tragically rolled over, killing the operator.

This is a devastating loss for Benton County and our thoughts and prayed go out to the equipment operator's family as well as fellow County employees.

This accident is still under investigation.

We want to thank Monroe Fire, Corvallis Fire, and the Sheriff's Office Deputies that responded to assist in this difficult situation.
