PORTLAND, Oregon - On Sunday morning at about 3:30 AM, Portland police responded to a report of gunfire heard in the Kerns neighborhood. Officers located a man lying on the road in the 3100 block of Northeast Multnomah Street. They requested medical assistance, but the man was determined to be deceased.

Detectives from PPB Homicide Division and Criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division are responding to assume the investigation. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

Officers have the neighborhood closed off for the investigation. Blocked streets are 31st and 33rd Avenues between Sandy Boulevard and Wasco Street. Traffic on Sandy Boulevard was not restricted.
