Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced that a five-count indictment against 52-year-old Edward Stanley Rogers (AKA: "Ed Rogers" and "Ed S. Rogers") was unsealed on January 10, 2019.

This case is being investigated by the Gresham Police Department and the Multnomah County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team.

At this time, law enforcement, including the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, is requesting assistance from the public in determining whether or not there are additional victims of child sexual abuse.

The indictment against Rogers was filed on January 7, 2019 and charges him with five counts of sexual abuse in the first degree. It is alleged that during a three year period, the defendant, on multiple occasions, unlawfully and knowingly subjected a child to sexual contact by touching sexual or intimate parts of her body.

According to information developed and released by the Gresham Police Department, the defendant befriended members of a family, including a child, at a religious gathering in Multnomah County, which led to the conduct alleged in the indictment.

Gresham Police believe the defendant may have potentially attended multiple faith-based locations throughout Portland, Oregon. Due to the ongoing investigation, the name and specific location of the organizations is not being released.

Gresham Police have learned that the defendant may have invited families with children to gather at his residence in Gresham, Oregon.

There is no indication that the defendant was a staff member at any religious organization.

On January 9, 2019, law enforcement located and arrested Rogers in the 600 block of Northeast 195th Avenue. He was subsequently booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center.

Rogers was arraigned on the secret indictment on January 10, 2019 at the Multnomah County Justice Center, which is when the indictment was unsealed.

The named victim in the indictment is a child and media is asked to respect her privacy and refrain from contacting the family as this remains a pending criminal investigation.

The defendant's next court date is scheduled for February 22, 2019.

Anyone with information about the defendant or this case is asked to call Gresham Police Detective Aaron Dressler at 503.823.0244.

An indictment is only an accusation of a crime. The defendant is innocent unless and until proven guilty.

This case was investigated by the Multnomah County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team, which includes representatives from local law enforcement, public schools, hospitals, courts, health departments, the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS), and the Oregon Department of Employment Child Care Division.

The Multnomah County District Attorney's Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team is responsible for reviewing and coordinating all child abuse and neglect cases in Multnomah County. The team also handles all child homicides, felony child physical abuse cases, felony child abandonment cases, custodial interference cases, and felony sex crimes where the victim is currently under the age of 18 and where the perpetrator is determined not to be a stranger to the child.
