ROSEBURG, Oregon - Yesterday, April 28th, at about 3:00 p.m., a Roseburg police officer saw 20-year-old Vince Allen Jakeman in the area of Vine and Meadow. She knew he was a wanted man. The officer saw Jakeman walking with two women and a leashed pit bull.

The officer told Jakeman he was under arrest for an outstanding warrant. Police say Jakeman then removed the leash from the pit bull and placed the dog between himself and the officer then began running north on Vine Street.

Police say that as he took off, he shoved the dog towards one of the two females.

The officer called for backup, and two detectives chased Jakeman onto Meadow Street, caught him, and placed Jakeman under arrest.

Jakeman was taken to the Douglas County Jail, charged with third degree escape, the outstanding warrant, and failing to register as a sex offender.

Bail is listed at $56,250.
