At approximately 2:45 p.m., Thursday afternoon April 7, 2011, Portland Police responded to the Bank of the West in the 8100 block of Southeast Division Street after a bank employee reported the bank had been robbed. A male subject later identified as 52 year-old Richard Tucker, presented a note demanding money from the bank.

Witnesses told police the suspect may have driven away in a silver colored Honda. A short time later, officers near Northeast 33rd Avenue and Northeast Killingsworth Street saw the suspect in the Honda but then lost sight of the car. Additional North Precinct officers drove to the area and located the vehicle again near Northeast 13th Avenue and Northeast Lombard Street.

The suspect, Tucker, was taken into custody at the Northeast Lombard Street location. Witnesses confirmed he was the suspect who had robbed the bank earlier. Tucker has been lodged in the downtown Multnomah County Facility this evening on one count of Bank Robbery.
