There were no major problems on highways and freeways, except for spinouts and lots of sliding and shoveling.
The National Weather Service says to expect a total of around 3 inches of snow today; more snow should fall in the late afternoon or evening.
The heavy snow began early this morning, causing roads to become extra slippery throughout the Portland area. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 p.m. tonight.
Sanding and snowplow crews were busy this morning hours as most television morning shows were preempted for local news.
Metro Portland expects a freeze with icy roads tonight
TriMet chained their entire fleet and bus riders were told to expect delays because buses with chains are obviously slower moving, no faster than 25 mph.
Runways at Portland International Airport were kept clear and flights were getting out on time, according to the Port of Portland.
