HILLSBORO, Oregon - President Barack Obama will visit Oregon's Intel campus in Hillsboro a week from today, on Friday.

Obama plans to tour the Intel and meet their CEO Paul Otellini. He'll also review Intel's education programs and efforts to prepare children for high-tech jobs.

"In his State of the Union, President Obama outlined a plan for winning the future by preparing our children to be competitive in the global economy. His plan calls for key investments in education to grow the economy and create more jobs," the White House said in a statement.

"When the President decides to highlight your state's approach", said Gov. John Kitzhaber, "you know you're doing something innovative. Our position on the Pacific Rim makes us an ideal trading partner with markets all over the world, especially those interested in our leadership on innovative technologies, and Intel is a superb location to highlight the very cutting edge."

Access to Obama will be by invitation only and the details of the trip have not been released.

The last time Obama visited Oregon as President, was inn October when he held a rally in support of then-gubernatorial candidate John Kitzhaber.
