TROUTDALE, Oregon - A Portland woman was arrested for driving under the influence after leading Troutdale police on a chase down Interstate 84 toward Troutdale.

Police responded to several calls just before midnight on Christmas reporting a reckless driver on I84. The callers said the car nearly missed hitting construction signs and several other cars. Officers turned on their emergency lights and sirens after spotting the car just past the Troutdale exit. The chase lasted about five minutes because the driver would not pull over. At times the driver slowed down to as low as 25 miles per hour on the freeway.

The driver was identified as 61-year-old Shirley Strickland. She eventually stopped near the Corbett exit on I84. Police then arrested her on charges of driving under the influence and driving while suspended. She was taken to the Multnomah County Detention Center.
