FOREST GROVE, Oregon - On Tuesday June 1st at 12:54am, Forest Grove Firefighters were dispatched to a shop fire on NW Hillside Road in rural Washington County. Crews arrived shortly after to find heavy fire involvement on a 2,000 square foot shop. Firefighters were able to get a bulk of the fire extinguished, but were hampered by propane tanks that kept reigniting the flames. After approximately 30 minutes on scene, firefighters had most of the fire out but had extensive work ahead of them with removing sheet metal that lined the interior and exterior of the structure. This metal needed to be cut off to safely access hot spots. Due to the extra work required, a 2nd Alarm was dispatched to bring in additional firefighters. The incident was deemed under control at 2:37am.

This incident occurred in a rural area with no municipal water supply or fire hydrants. Because of this, water tenders had to bring water into the scene and refill from hydrants located in the city. The fire heavily damaged the structure and its contents, the cause of the fire is under investigation. No civilians or firefighters were injured on scene.

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Cornelius Fire Department, Banks Fire District, Hillsboro Fire & Rescue, Gaston Fire Distruct, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Washington County Sheriffs Office.
