EUGENE, Oregon - The Lane County sheriff's office is investigating the death of a Creswell teen linked to a faith-healing church.

An obituary said 16-year-old Austin Lewis Sprout is to be buried Tuesday, with a dinner afterward at the General Assembly and the Church of the First Born. The obituary said the cause of death was unknown and an autopsy was planned.

The paper said the church has a history of deaths related to healing by prayer.

Sheriff's Sgt. Billy Halvorson confirmed the investigation but had no details on the death, which occurred Tuesday.

The church lists two Oregon congregations.

They are distinct from Oregon City's Followers of Christ, which has attracted attention during prosecutions of four couples in the deaths or health problems of children.
