Woman Dies in Seaside Two-Alarm Fire

SEASIDE, Oregon. – January 1, 2021 – At approximately 4:57 p.m. on Friday, January 1, Seaside Dispatch received a report of a structure fire at 741 7th Avenue in Seaside. Seaside Fire & Rescue responded to the property where a two-story home was fully engulfed in flames. The blaze quickly escalated to a two-alarm fire with Seaside Fire receiving on-scene mutual aid from Gearhart, Cannon Beach, Warrenton, Hamlet and Lewis and Clark Fire Departments.

Firefighters arriving on scene were able to enter the home on their primary search and quickly discovered a deceased female. The woman was the only occupant inside the home.

The blaze was contained to the single-family home and despite other nearby homes, no other damage has been reported and evacuations were not necessary. North Holladay between 4th and 12th Avenue in Seaside was closed for approximately four hours. Mutual aid was also provided by the Astoria, Elsie Vinemaple, Nehalem Bay, and Olney-Walluski Fire Departments with additional support provided by the Seaside and Gearhart Police Departments, Oregon State Police, Pacific Power and Seaside Public Works.
