PORTLAND, Oregon - On October 12, 2020, a Southeast Portland couple located their stolen mini-van parked in a driveway in Southeast Portland. The couple believed their minivan was unoccupied and attempted to retrieve it. As the couple tried to retrieve the minivan, a female suspect, who was inside the van, physically attacked one of the owners in an attempt to prevent her from retrieving the minivan. The second owner of the minivan attempted to intervene in the attack, however, was then assaulted by a second male suspect. During the course of the assault, the male suspect pointed a handgun at the owners of the minivan, threatening to shoot them in order to retain possession of the stolen minivan.

The minivan owners contacted Portland Police and Robbery Detectives quickly began to investigate the incident. Through the investigation, the suspects were identified as 35-year-old Benjamin Louis Hooper and 37-year-old Jeanna Irene Swink. Robbery Detectives secured warrants for their arrests.

Today, a Central Precinct Sergeant located the stolen minivan in the Hollywood District. Utilizing available PPB patrol assets, PPB's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT), PPB's K-9 Unit, and PPB'S Air Support Unit, the suspects were arrested without incident.
