Rider killed in motorcycle crash identified

PORTLAND, Oregon - The rider in this morning's fatal motorcycle crash has been identified as 41 year old Timothy P. Boyette.

Mr. Boyette was apparently riding along Southwest Kelly Avenue approaching the intersection of Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest Arthur when his motorcycle left the roadway and collided with a light pole base and light pole. Mr. Boyette died at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation. Portland Police Officer David Enz is the primary investigator and anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact him at [email protected]

This is the 39th fatality investigated by the Portland Police Bureau traffic investigation unit.

On October 9, 2020, at about 5:55 a.m., Portland Police responded with medical to the report of a single motorcycle crash near the intersection of Southwest 1st Avenue and Southwest Arthur Street. Witnesses indicated that the motorcycle crashed into a fixed object and the rider was down and not moving. It was determined that the rider was deceased.

The Portland Police Major Crash Team responded to investigate and will release details when they are available.

Traffic around the crash scene was blocked and commuters experienced delays, especially on and off the Ross Island Bridge.
