The Room might be the most notorious cult film of the last decade. Written, directed and starring the incomparable Tommy Wiseau, it's been a midnight screening favorite for almost ten years now.
If you have never seen it, please do yourself a favor and get your hands on it. From there, you'll be inspired to join in the fun at one of many midnight screenings all over the world.
If you're already a die-hard fan like me and would like to find out how this unlikely masterpiece was brought into existence for the perpetual enjoyment of an entire generation, you're in luck: Greg Sestero, who portrays Mark in The Room, wrote a book about his experiences called The Disaster Artist.
You can find more information about his book at http://www.thedisasterartistbook.com/
If you live around Portland, you're even more in luck: Greg will be at Cinema 21 in Portland on October 18 and 19 to promote his book, read excerpts from it, sign copies and show never before seen behind the scenes footage!
You can get more info and buy tickets at http://www.cinema21.com/#ohhigreg
And finally, here's a phone interview I conducted with Greg. Enjoy!
The picture on the interview was taken in 2010 before a screening at Red Vic Theater (Sadly, no longer in business) in San Francisco. Left to right: Me (Oktay Ege Kozak), Tommy Wiseau, My friend Mike and Greg Sestero.
