ROSEBURG, Oregon - The Roseburg community has suffered a loss which saddens and shocks everyone over the death of two-year-old Cyrus Delia, killed Sunday in a family house fire in Roseburg.
Family members have found comfort with the outpouring of community sympathy and support. Cyrus's uncle, Jeremy Wiggins, is especially saddened, as he knows personally what he has lost.
"Cyrus was an amazing little boy. He had a heart of gold," said Wiggins. "He was always there on Uncle Jeremy's chest when I was having a hard time. He was comforting me constantly."
Wiggin's neighbors were horrified when they saw flames shooting from the Delia home. They say Cyrus was a very happy little boy, a darling child who always smiled at everyone.
"They haven't been there very long, they were all very nice, their kids would have a lemonade stand on the corner and stuff, and that was kind of refreshing," said neighbor Daniel Jeremiah. "So, it's kind of crazy and kind of weird that now it is just caution tape around the house."
Investigators are attempting to discover the cause the fire and local and state authorities are investigating.
A fund has been set up at Premier West Bank to help with funeral costs.
