Wrong Way driver collides with fuel truck
  Sunday January 9, 2011 - 1:30 PM
VANCOUVER – A 22 year old man was taken to a hospital today after the car he was a passenger in was hit by a fuel truck near downtown Vancouver.

At 5:30 this morning the driver of the car and her passenger were traveling north on south-bound-only Washington Street. The car entered the intersection at West 15th Street and was struck by a commercial two-tank fuel truck traveling west on West 15th Street.

The fuel truck was towed away but the fuel containers were not damaged.

The Vancouver Fire Department responded and removed the passenger who was badly injured and was taken to hospital for emergency surgery.

The 30-year-old driver of the car, woman with only minor injuries, was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center. She is cooperating with investigators but police say she has a suspended driver's license and alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the collision.

The Vancouver Police have taken over the investigation.
