>GRESHAM, Oregon - A grandmother has been arrested and charged with murder of her one year old granddaughter. Investigators said the grandmother, 58 year old Carolyn Bellamy said the girl had been injured in a fall from a bed.The incident occurred last October in the 21000 block of Southeast Ash Street. Police were called in regard to a report of an unresponsive child who had fallen out of a bed.

When officers arrived they found one year old Ariana Magathan with a head injury. The child was taken to a local hospital. Medical personnel told police the injuries were not consistent with a fall from a bed.

The little girl was placed on life support but unfortunately died just before what would have been her second birthday. The Medical Examiner said the girl had died of a violent blunt force trauma to the head.

A grand jury indicted the girl's grandmother and sole guardian, Carolyn Bellamy, on charges of felony murder and manslaughter.

Grandmother Carolyn Bellamy is being held at the Multnomah County Detention Center.
