Driver Who Struck Pedestrian Arrested

PORTLAND, Oregon - At 1:17a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at West Burnside Street and Northwest 16th Avenue. Officers arrived and learned that two pedestrians were hit by the car. One, an adult male, was unconscious and appeared to be seriously injured. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital. The other pedestrian, an adult female, was suffering minor injuries.

Police arrested the involved driver who stayed at the scene. Ian T. Cupples, 39, of Portland, was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), Assault in the Third Degree, and Reckless Driving.
