Armed Woman Arrested During Gun Violence Reduction Team Patrol

PORTLAND, Oregon - Tactical Operation Division officers have been conducting focused patrols in the city due to several shootings and firearm recoveries in the past few months. On Tuesday, October 1st, 2019, at 5:00 p.m., officers were looking for a woman associated with these recent, violent incidents. Officers found the woman and arrested her. During the investigation, a handgun was found on her person.

The suspect, 23-year-old Rhachelle Cotton, was arrested on one count each of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm in public (city code) and engaging in prostitution.

The handgun and other evidence were seized and placed into property.

The Tactical Operations Division is continuing to investigate several incidents of gun violence citywide.
