TIMBERLINE LODGE - 30-year-old David Lee Yaghmourian, from Glendale, Arizona, died on Mt Hood in a hiking trip. His body was found by rescuers to Timberline Lodge and turned over the Clackamas County Medical Examiner, who made a preliminary ID that this was in fact Mr. Yaghmourian.

The search mission began on Oct. 8, 2018 at about 5 p.m. At that point Yaghmourian's hiking partner had been out of contact for about nine hours with Mr. Yaghmourian. He was hiking the Timberline Trail with a friend, Hayden Krichbaum, when he became fatigued and complained of a sore knee.

On Monday, the last day of the hike, Yaghmourian stopped to rest while they were returning to Timberline Lodge. His companion continued on to the lodge and waited for him there.

"David needed some extra time to take breaks. I wasn't feeling great at the time, so I asked, 'Is it OK if we meet up at the lodge? Are you feeling good enough to keep going?' He said, 'Sure, not a problem, I'll take a break and meet you there,'" said Kirchbaum.

The weather worsened and Yaghmourian did not return.

His body was found about 1.84 miles NE of Timberline Lodge, at an elevation of 8,270 feet at the top of White River Canyon. His family has been notified.
