Negotiations are continuing today between Evergreen Public Schools and the Evergreen Education Association (EEA). Last Thursday, August 23, EEA took a vote indicating teachers/certificated staff would strike if an agreement was not reached by the first day of school, August 28.
Given the uncertainty if an agreement is forthcoming today, and the need to let students and families know to make alternate plans, Evergreen Public Schools are not opening school tomorrow. In addition, families should expect a daily update with the status of school for the next day.
All back-to-school activities scheduled for today, August 27, are still expected to happen. Middle and high school athletics are also continuing, as much as possible, with scheduled practices and games/matches/meets as the coaches are covered under a separate contract.
As of tomorrow morning, all school buildings will be closed to the public as well as any staff not in paid status or scheduled to work. The District's Administrative Service Center will continue to be open and operate on a normal schedule.
