On Thursday August 23, 2018 at about 10:10 pm State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle head on crash on Highway 26 near milepost 43.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a grey 2014 Kia Cadenza was traveling eastbound on Highway 26 when for an unknown reason it crossed the centerline and collided head-on into a red 2010 Lexus HS 250, which was traveling westbound.
The driver and only occupant in the Kia sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
The Lexus contained four occupants at the time of the collision. The driver and left rear passenger sustained fatal injuries. The front passenger and the right rear passenger were transported by air ambulance to a Portland area hospital.
It is determined that speed and lane occupancy were contributing factors.
The Oregon State Police was assisted by Washington County Sheriff's Office, Banks Fire Department, Washington County Medical Examiner, and Oregon Department of Transportation.
