Shooting in Portland's Powellhurst-Gilbert Neighborhood

PORTLAND, Oregon - On Sunday, August 5, 2018, at 2 AM., two people were hit by gunfire outside the 7-11 store, located at 3500 Southeast 122nd Avenue.

When police arrived they found two men on the ground outside of the entrance to the 7-11. Both men appeared to be suffering from gunshot injuries.

Officers provided the men with emergency medical first aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. The men were transported by ambulances to an area hospital for treatment of what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers continued the investigation, they canvassed the area and located evidence of gunfire on the 7-11 property, as well as multiple bullet strikes to the store.

At this time in the investigation, investigators believe two men fired weapons at the injured men. Witnesses described one of the suspects as a younger black male, 5'10" to 6'00" tall, 190 pounds, with a goatee and numerous tattoos on his chest and torso, and armed with a handgun. The other suspect was described as a black male with hazel colored hair. The suspects were last seen leaving the location in a white sedan.

Based on preliminary information, the Gang Enforcement Team has responded to conduct the investigation. Criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have also responded to assist with this investigation.
