Marion County Sheriff’s Office Detective was arrested

SALEM, Oregon - On July 26, 2018, a Marion County Sheriff's Office Detective was arrested on 1 Count of Theft by Taking, 4 Counts of Theft by Selling and 1 count of Official Misconduct by the Salem Police Department. The Sheriff's Office received information from the Salem Police Department regarding Sean Banks and potential criminal activity in March of 2018.

Upon receiving this information, the Sheriff's Office requested that the Salem Police Department conduct a criminal investigation. Banks was placed on Administrative leave on July 12, 2018. Banks has been booked at the Linn County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time. Any additional releases will come from the Marion County District Attorney's Office.
