Fatal Crash Investigated Near Mill City

Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports today, at 4:15 p.m., the Sheriff's Office received a call reporting a motorcycle had crashed into a passenger vehicle on Kingwood Avenue at Dogwood Street near Mill City. The two vehicle crash resulted in the death of the motorcyclist. The operator of the 2008 Harley Davidson was identified as John Horton, 66-years old of Mill City. Mr. Horton was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed Mr. Horton had been traveling eastbound on Kingwood Avenue and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. He crossed the center line and collided with a 2015 Jeep Renegade that was traveling westbound. The driver of the Jeep was identified as Ashley Nunley, 29-years old of Mill City. Nunley was not injured in the crash.

The investigation is continuing. Linn County Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Albany Police Department, Lebanon Police Department, Mill City Fire Department, Gates Fire Department, Linn County Road Department, and the Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
