SALEM, Ore. – The Maps Community Foundation will grant a total of $10,000 to small nonprofits serving Marion and Polk Counties. There will be four $2,500 awards granted.
"This is the sixth annual Community Challenge," said Mitzi Smith, Community Development Officer at Maps Credit Union. "This year, we want to highlight the groups who are working every day to address the issues facing our community. There are many organizations who are committed to providing solutions to community challenges and Maps is thrilled to support them."
The contest is open to nonprofits in Marion and Polk Counties with less than 15 employees. The Foundation will accept submissions through July 13, 2018.

Maps is honored to recognize local nonprofits, and to empower those organizations to strengthen our community. The winners will be announced early August.
The Maps Community Foundation was created to support lifelong learning and economic development throughout our community, and to bring together the Credit Union's philanthropic efforts, including the Community Challenge awards. The Foundation is funded by Maps Credit Union through the Free Community Checking account. Each time a member uses their debit card, the credit union invests a penny in the community.
Today, Maps serves more than 65,000 members in Marion, Polk, Yamhill, Linn, Benton, Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah counties. The Credit Union has 10 branch locations in Salem, Keizer, Monmouth, Woodburn, Silverton, and Stayton.
