Stabbing in Portland's Lloyd District - One Person Injured

On Saturday November 25, 2017, at 7:48 p.m., North Precinct officers responded to the report of a disturbance at a Portland Streetcar platform near Northeast 7th Avenue and Northeast Hassalo Street.

As officers responded to the disturbance, information was broadcast that one of the two people involved possessed a knife. When officers arrived at the scene, they observed two adult males actively fighting. One of the men possessed a knife.

Officers took the adult male suspect into custody and immediately provided medical aid to the adult male victim who had sustained several stab wounds. Once emergency medical personnel arrived the victim was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers located and seized the knife believed to have been used in the assault near where the men were seen fighting.

Detectives with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Assault Detail and criminalists with the Forensic Evidence Division have responded to assist with this investigation.

Northeast 7th Avenue is closed between Northeast Multnomah Street and Northeast Holladay Street to vehicle, train, bicycle and pedestrian traffic during this investigation.

The suspect will be identified after he is lodged in the Multnomah County Jail.
