MILWAUKIE, Oregon - A local store in Milwaukie got a bit of a scare when an employee opened a letter that had been taped and stapled shut. The letter had been sent from an unknown sender in another country. Clackamas Fire Haz-Mat 307 responded to the store on McLaughlin Blvd to assess the item and determine if it had anything in it, or on it. Hazardous materials technicians isolated the envelope and ran several tests to determine that this was a false alarm.

Clackamas Fire is pleased that this incident was a false alarm, but wants to remind everyone that mailing illegal substances is a felony. If you should come across a strange package dont open it. Leave it be and call the appropriate authorities to inspect it.
